What is the baggage policy while flying with Emirates?

• Enjoy one of the most generous baggage allowances in the world. Your free baggage allowance is based on either the total amount of weight or the number of pieces of luggage you have, which is known as the weight or piece concept. The weight concept applies to most routes, while the piece concept applies only to flights to and from the America and Africa.

Weight Concept

• Our allowance is based on the total weight of all your baggage; you may check in as many bags as you wish, up to the weight allowance for your travel class; each individual bag must not weigh more than 32 kg. The weight concept applies to all routes, except those to and from the Americas and Africa (for tickets issued before August 9, 2021).

• Dimensions of Checked Baggage for Weight Concept: An individual bag's total dimensions (length plus width plus height) cannot exceed 300 cm (118 inches); bags that do so will not be permitted as checked baggage. An individual bag's dimensions for travel from Dammam International Airport cannot exceed 215 cm (84.64 inches).

Piece concept (the Americas and Africa):

• Baggage allowances to and from the Americas and Africa (except flights within the Americas and between US and Europe): Your allowance depends on your fare or travel class. The piece concept applies to flights to and from the Americas and flights originating in Africa. For tickets issued on or after August 9, 2021, the piece concept also applies to flights into Africa.

Travelling from Australia, New Zealand, or Asia?

• The weight concept may apply for the duration of your ticketed journey if your trip to North or South America includes a stop-over in Europe or a longer than 24-hour stopover in Dubai. Additionally, if you are traveling into Africa, the weight concept may apply.
• Checked baggage dimensions for piece concept: Each piece's total dimensions (length + width + height) cannot exceed 150 cm (59 inches). Any individual items that exceed this limit will incur an additional fee, up to a maximum of 300 cm (118 inches) or 215 cm (84.64 inches) for travel from Dammam International Airport.
